German Pork Chops Recipe - Baked Pork Chops

Ingredients:

4 pork chops (about 1/2-inch thick),
1 lb. sauerkraut, strained,
1 medium onion, sliced,
2 garlic cloves, crushed,
1 carrot, shredded,
2 Granny Smith apples, sliced,
1 cup German lager beer,
1 Tbsp. sugar,
1 bay leaf,
1 pinch oregano,
3 Tbsp. vegetable oil,
salt and pepper to taste.

Recipe:

Heat the oil in a large skillet and sear the pork chops on both sides for about 2 minutes per side over medium heat. Remove the pork chops from the skillet and arrange them in a baking dish. In the same skillet saute the onion and garlic for 3 minutes. Deglaze the skillet with the beer and the rest of the ingredients. Heat up the skillet and pour everything over the pork chops in the baking dish. Cover the dish and bake for 15 minutes in a preheated oven at 400 F. Remove the cover and bake the pork chops for 20 minutes more. Serve the baked pork chops with spaetzle and sour cream.
