Mozzarella sticks

Mozzarella Sticks


1 pound mozzarella cheese,
1/2 cup all-purpose flour,
2 eggs, lightly beaten,
1 1/2 cup seasoned Italian breadcrumbs,
1 Tbsp. garlic-flavored oil,
1 tsp. chopped parsley, thyme or
other fresh herb of your choice,
salt and pepper to taste,
vegetable oil for deep-fryer.


1. Cut the mozzarella cheese to approximately 1/2-inch thick strips.

2. Brush the cheese with the garlic-flavored oil, dredge each strip in the flour, dip them in the egg and press them in the breadcrumbs to coat them completely.

If you don't have seasoned breadcrumbs, make them by seasoning them with Italian herbs mix, little grated Parmesan cheese, garlic powder and salt and pepper.

3. Heat the oil in a deep-fryer to 165 F and drop the breaded mozzarella sticks.

4. Fry them until they swim up to the surface.

5. Put the fried mozzarella sticks over tissue paper for a few minutes to drain the excess oil.

The breaded mozzarella sticks can be frozen and fried later.

If you fry them from frozen, the oil temperature should be 155-160 F.

Serve the mozzarella cheese sticks with marinara sauce for dipping.
